Cheri is a Policy Associate with the Youth and Community Engagement team working with the Youth Leadership Advisory Team (YLAT) and Maine Learn and Earn to Achieve Potential (LEAP) Initiative. Cheri combines her personal experiences as a former youth in care, a CASA volunteer for children in protective custody in Maine, and her work experience with the homeless, in the community and educational systems as a clinician to the work she will be doing with YCE. Cheri’s education and clinical training has specialized in trauma and the use of mind-body and expressive art interventions. Cheri is passionate about the work needed to improve the lives of current and former youth in foster care. She sees each youth for their individual strengths, needs, challenges, goals, resilience and separates who they are as people from their experienced trauma.
Outside of work, Cheri enjoys running, yoga and shares her love for the outdoors and sports with her beautiful family.

Areas of Expertise

Child Welfare and foster care systems, coordinating and support implementation of services within systems, individual and group mental health therapy, group facilitation.
