Erika Ziller Presents Findings on Rural Adolescent Cigarette Smoking at National Conference

Erika Ziller, Ph.D., presented findings on rural-urban differences in the decline of adolescent cigarette smoking use at the annual meeting of the National Rural Health Association in New Orleans from May 8 – May 11, 2018. Working with colleagues Jean Talbot, Jennifer Lenardson, Nathan Paluso, and Angela Daley, Dr. Ziller found that current smoking had decreased over recent years for both rural and urban adolescents. However, rural adolescents experienced a more limited decline since 2008-10, resulting in 50% higher odds of smoking among rural adolescents in 2014-16 compared to urban adolescents.
