Jean A. Talbot, PhD, MPH, is a Research Associate at the Maine Rural Health Research Center within the Muskie School of Public Service. She received her PhD from Clark University. She completed a clinical internship with the VA Boston Healthcare System and a fellowship at the University of Rochester Medical Center's Department of Psychiatry. In 13 years working in the field of clinical psychology, Dr. Talbot focused on addressing the behavioral health issues and high-risk health behaviors of vulnerable populations. Her qualitative and quantitative research on family psychology has been published in a range of peer-reviewed journals. In her work with the Rural Health Research Center, Dr. Talbot has been the principal investigator or lead author on a projects that have contributed to insights on behavioral health needs, treatment access, infrastructure gaps, and capacity building in rural areas. Her portfolio of research includes projects on telehealth and telemental health use among rural Medicaid beneficiaries; adverse childhood experiences and the health status of rural residents; and smoking in rural populations.
