John Gale has been appointed to the National Quality Forum’s National Measures Application Partnership Rural Health Workgroup. This national multi-stakeholder workgroup provides information and guidance on quality and performance measurement issues for rural healthcare providers. Gale was appointed as one of five individual voting subject matter experts on the 18 member panel. From January-July 2018, this workgroup will focus on several issues related to rural healthcare: developing recommendations on measures appropriate for use in Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services pay-for-performance programs for rural hospitals and clinicians; making recommendations to help mitigate measures challenges for rural providers; and identifying measurement gaps. The work of this group will influence the direction and scope of performance measurement for rural healthcare providers to enhance the quality of care provided to rural residents across the country.
