Casandra Fitzherbert is a Maine native and has worked in the University of Maine System for 34 years. She graduated from the University of Maine at Presque Isle with a B.S in Social Science and a minor in Education. She earned her M.A. in Library and Information Science from the University of Rhode Island and a second B.S. in Information Technology from Thomas College. Her interests include computing, technology and its use in education, resource sharing and public services.
Ms. Fitzherbert is currently Coordinator of Digital Strategies at University of Southern Maine. Previously Head of Access Services, Ms. Fitzherbert led the implementation of the Digital Commons @ USM in May, 2013 and has been coordinating its ongoing development. The Digital Commons @ USM is a growing repository of the research and scholarship at the University of Southern Maine.
Ms. Fitzherbert is also the Library liaison to several academic departments at USM, providing Information Literacy support, assisting with collection development and informing faculty of library services, programs and resources . She has served on the OCLC Resource Sharing Council and presented on the impact of technology and resource sharing at numerous conferences
