Prof. Briggs is a Maine native and grew up on a dairy farm that has been in his family for eight generations. He was educated at Tilton School, Leavitt High School, Swarthmore College, and the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and has degrees in history and computer science. He has a wide range of academic interests in the humanities and computer science and enjoys hiking and kayaking.
