Erika Lichter is an Associate Research Professor of Public Health in the USM Muskie School of Public Service and serves as the lead Maternal and Child Health Epidemiologist for the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Maine CDC). She is also the lead evaluator of Maine’s Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program. Dr. Lichter has expertise in applied epidemiology and public health surveillance in the areas of pregnancy and birth outcomes, child and adolescent risk and protective factors, and injury and suicide prevention. Her research has focused on the impact of sexual and intimate partner violence on children and women’s well-being. She is interested in how stress and other social determinants impact health and contribute to health inequity.
