Sydney Brown is a Research Analyst with the Data Innovation Project, bringing a passion for blending storytelling, community engagement, and data to improve community impact.

Sydney has a background in visual arts and journalism, and her professional career has primarily focused on addressing the issue of food insecurity. Sydney has over ten years of experience in the nonprofit sector and, most recently, spent two years developing a strategic plan for the State of Maine to achieve its commitment to ending hunger by 2030. Sydney co-authored “Everyone at the Table: Maine’s Roadmap to End Hunger by 2030”, and helped design and coordinate the participatory planning process that informed the plan with lived expertise, content-area expertise, data, and research. In 2022, the Maine State Legislature passed a bill to implement the recommendations of the plan.

Sydney loves calling midcoast Maine home, where she lives with her husband and their young daughter. When she’s at home, Sydney is most likely cooking up a storm in the kitchen – blueberry pancakes if it’s a Sunday.
