Disability Services Center

Current USM Students

Welcome Huskies to the USM Disability Services Center.  The Disability Services Center (DSC) is responsible for determining appropriate accommodations for USM students with attentional, learning, physical, psychological, sensory, or other health-related disabilities.  Together we determine how to best alter or amend the environment to ensure you have equal access to campus life and academic content.  The first step to requesting accommodations is to register with our office.  Registration requires you to provide documentation of your disability and to complete an initial assessment with one of our counselors. To learn more please visit Getting Started with the DSC.

Accommodations on Prior Learning Assessment Exams.

The USM PLA Office is committed to helping students with documented disabilities gain equitable access to PLA exams. Students seeking accommodations on PLA exams should first contact Rusty Dolleman, Director of Prior Learning Assessment, at 207-780-5909 or rusty.dolleman@maine.edu.  Students will be asked to provide documentation of any disability for assessment by USM Disability Services Center staff and, in many cases, the relevant testing company before any accommodations can be granted.

Accommodations requests should be submitted as early as possible. As testing companies vary in their approach to granting accommodations, the USM PLA Office cannot guarantee that any particular accommodations request will be approved.
