Summer Session at USM provides an exciting opportunity for students to continue pursuing their academic goals. USM Summer offers two seven week semesters; the first running mid-May through the end of June, the second running from the beginning of July to mid-August. Students can also choose from several short-term intensive course options ranging from 1-4 weeks as well as many study abroad and travel course opportunities. To learn more about Summer Session and Study Abroad and Travel Course options, please visit the following webpages.
Each summer the DSC welcomes many returning USM students and students visiting from other colleges and universities across the country. Accommodations are available for all summer session programs. Summer courses are shorter in length and naturally have a faster pace than a traditional semester long course. Students are encouraged to contact our office as soon as soon as they have registered for a summer course to request accommodations. The DSC office is open throughout the summer. Core business hours are 8:00-4:30 with early evening appointments available by request.
USM students already registered with the DSC can renew their accommodations online by completing the online Accommodations Request Form. Once received, you will be e-mailed a copy of your Faculty Accommodations Letter within 5 business days. Please note that if you have not taken classes at USM in several semesters, DSC recommends you schedule an orientation appointment with one our counselors to learn about any changes since your last date of attendance. To schedule an orientation appointment, call us at (207) 780-4706 or email us.
USM Students seeking accommodations who are not yet registered with the DSC are welcome to register throughout the summer. Please visit the How to Register at the DSC page for additional information.
Nonmatriculated students taking courses at USM Summer who intend to transfer credits back to their institution of matriculation should complete the Visiting Student Accommodations Request Form. Please be prepared to upload a copy of your current Faculty Letter outlining your accommodations. A member of our staff will contact you to discuss your request and determine if additional documentation is required.
