Dianne Benedict has been teaching creative writing at USM for over thirty years. A winner of two Maine State Artist Grants and a National Endowment for the Arts Grant, Dianne has published short stories in North American Review, Gargoyle, and The Atlantic Monthly, among others. Her short story collection won the Iowa Short Fiction Award, judged that year by Raymond Carver. She lives with her partner in the woods outside of Brunswick, Maine.
