She also teaches for the English department, the Honors Program, and the Entry Year Experience Program, and most recently for the USM Summer Book Arts Program. Her classes often focus on the human relationship to nature, which her own poetry and research explore, and on relationships between literature and the other arts. She received her BA in English from Bowdoin College (1994), her MFA in Poetry from Arizona State University (1998), and her PhD in American Literature from Brandeis University (2001). She regularly writes reviews for Kirkus Indie and volunteers with the Poetry Out Loud project at a local high school.
