Sharon E. Ross, MFA, is an adjunct instructor of Professional Writing and Creative Writing at the University of Southern Maine. She has been teaching writing and communications at Maine’s Community College and University campuses for about 10 years and has been a professional writer for more than 20. Her classes often include self-directed projects and opportunities for community and civic engagement that provide students will real-world experiences. She has taught courses in English Composition, literature, interpersonal communications, grant writing, technical writing, and group process. As an undergraduate and graduate student, she worked full-time to pay tuition while earning her degrees. Her alma maters include Riverside City College, California State University San Bernardino (B.A. in English) and University of Southern Maine (M.F.A. in Creative Nonfiction and Fiction). She is a native Californian and has bylines in Portland Press Herald’s Raising Maine, The San Bernardino Sun, Mountain News, Pacific Review, and Lake Effect.
