STEM Scholarship Recipients Named at USM

The University of Southern Maine has named its 2012-2013 recipients of the National Science Foundation STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Scholarships.

Mechanical Engineering Student Featured in Biofuels Article

Matt Pemberton, a senior in USM's Mechanical Engineering program, is chief operating office for Maine Standard Biofeuls. Pemberton and Maine Standard Biofeuls, Maine's only commercial biodiesel plant, were featured in a Portland Press Herald article regarding a tax incentive meant to boost production of biofeuls this year.

NEW COURSE ANNOUNCMENT FOR FALL 2012

Starting Fall 2012, the Engineering Department is now offering a series of 1 credit Engineering Tools courses in Mathematica and Solidworks.

USM Participates in Maine Engineering Week Banquet and Expo

The Departments of Engineering and Technology took part in the Maine Engineers Week Banquet and Expo at the University of Maine on March 2-3. 2012. The Friday night banquet featured speaker was Lawrence L. “Kaz” Kazmerski, Executive Director at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colorado, and a recipient of the World Photovoltaic Award for outstanding leadership and contributions to the worldwide advancement of photovoltaic science and technology.

On Saturday, February 4th, USM's Departments of Engineering and Technology hosted the Western Maine MathCounts Competition attended by 52 Middle School students.
