In April, we announced the creation of the USM Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Fund with a generous lead gift from Martin’s Point Health Care. Today I’m reaching out to you to ask for your help in growing this critical fund.
As the Associate Vice President for Equity, Inclusion, and Community Impact, I am committed to deepening the DEI resources on our campuses and creating a culture of belonging. A vital part of USM’s strategic vision is to be a leader on Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging and this DEI Fund makes that work more possible. One of the initiatives the Fund will allow USM to undertake is a training program for all faculty, staff, and students leading to a campus affiliate of the National Coalition Building Institute, a renowned international leadership organization that builds DEI resources teams at college campuses, organizations, and institutions worldwide.
This Fund is crucial for our ability to undertake and uphold the wide spectrum of critical, multifaceted work necessary for ensuring that USM is best serving its diverse community of students, faculty, and staff.
