Call for Proposals
We want exciting and engaging session proposals for the 14th annual Universities Fighting World Hunger (UFWH) Summit. Is yours one of them?
The theme of this year’s Summit is Fighting Hunger in a World of Plenty: Shifting Power and Taking Action. We are looking for sessions that offer engaging activities, address root causes, and offer systematic solutions to hunger.
The Summit will be held on March 15-16, 2019, at the University of Southern Maine in Portland, Maine. It will bring together leaders and innovators who are creating and implementing creative, systematic solutions to food insecurity and related issues. Students will engage with and learn from experts in a variety of fields related to hunger, including social justice, social enterprise, public health, and nonprofit management.
We are accepting proposals for break-out sessions that include panel discussions, individual presentations, practical skills workshops/trainings, and posters. (Selection of posters will take place after break-out sessions are chosen, allowing those who do not get selected to present in a break-out session to be in the running to present a poster. Please indicate on application if you want to be considered for both.)
Themes of interest to the conference planning committee include:
- Politics of Hunger and Poverty
- Campus Food Insecurity
- Equity and racial justice in the food system
- Mobilizing for Change: sharing tools and skills needed to take action
- Nutrition and Public Health
- Food Sovereignty
- Global Perspectives
We are actively seeking student presenters to be featured in programming sessions.
Proposal deadline: November 9, 2018. Presenters will be notified by December 10, 2018.
