The 2019 Timothy B. Hussey Leadership Institute for emerging leaders will bring together more than one hundred young professionals from Maine's business, nonprofit, government and academic communities for a day-long conversation on doing well while doing good – the “how and why of values-driven business.”
The Institute will kick off with a lunchtime address by our keynote speaker, Dr. Mary Gentile, Professor of Practice at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business and author of Giving Voice to Values: How to Speak Your Mind When You Know What’s Right. Dr. Gentile is the creator/developer of Giving Voice to Values (GVV), a pioneering curriculum for values-driven leadership now being piloted in over 1,085 educational and executive settings on all seven continents.
Following Dr. Gentile's presentation, participants will dive into the topic of values-driven business during our breakout sessions. Workshop leaders and panelists from diverse backgrounds, including Maine entrepreneurs and nationally known experts, will equip participants with actionable tools and strategies they can take back to their companies and organizations to facilitate change. Read the breakout session descriptions and speaker bios.
The event will culminate in a networking reception and keynote presentation by Dr. Mary Gentile in Hannaford Hall that is open to the public: Giving Voice to Values: The "How" of Business Ethics.
