Maine hosts its annual official Franco-American Day on the Wednesday of the Semaine de la Francophonie. On March 19th, the state legislature will hold special bilingual sessions, and will recognize several inductees into the state's Franco-American Hall of Fame. There are also public events in the Capitol building, including live music and representatives from cultural and historical organizations, and a special menu in the cafeteria. On the evening of March 19, the Collection will be co-hosting an invitation-only reception for the Consul of France and the Delegate of the Govenrment of Québec in Boston with the Franco Center in Lewiston.
.Collection Coordinator James Myall will also be representing Maine's Franco-Americans at the SflF celebrations in Washington DC, with a presentation to the Alliance Française on the past, present and future of Maine's French-speakers. Details can be found here.
