Anne Hepler Andrea SulzerCollaborative Project Presentation

Snow date: noon-1 pm on Wednesday, March 19

Following a very successful previous project, acclaimed Maine-based artists Anna Hepler and Andrea Sulzer have been invited to explore a similar collaborative endeavor. In a shared artist residency, they will work with USM Art students to create large-scale woodcuts, which will be printed on banners and displayed in downtown Portland.

In thei presentation, Hepler and Sulzer will unveil the banners and discuss their collaborative process.

Andrew SulzerAndrea Sulzer

Andrea Sulzer’s work begins at the cellular level. She makes small marks, nuclei of activity, which multiply and migrate across her paper, tracking trails through white space, implying narrative. Sometimes they arrange themselves into recognizable shapes—a sea urchin, or a Life Savers candy. Sometimes they only suggest, flirting with the real world.
