The department is pleased to announce that the Portland Women’s History Trail app is now available: http://pmwht.org/ Part of USM's Digital Maine initiative and research cluster in Digital Humanities, the app is based on many years of research conducted by project leader Professor Eileen Eagan and her colleagues and students. The app offers maps with texts and photos of sites relating to Portland women’s history in work, education, religion, home, politics, health care, cultural activities and in death. Students in Women’s History classes have played important roles in the development of the trails. They have researched the sites and individuals and taken pictures. Professor Eagan's app offers a new view of Portland’s history, a view including women from a variety of classes, ages, ethnic and religious groups.
