Professor Bilodeau teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in entrepreneurship, creative strategies, design thinking, business sustainability, and marketing. He is an entrepreneur who is a partner in two growing businesses, a direct marketing company in the alternative health space located in Maine and a television network providing vacation information located in the southeast. He also has an active consulting practice with clients located in the United States, Canada, and Europe. In his consulting, he works with and presents to a wide range of businesses, from small retail and coffee shops in Maine to industry leaders like The Weather Channel, ESPN, Nielsen, and Deloitte.
In the Honors Program, he teaches HON 215: Thinking in Honors; HON 299: Ideation; and HON 387: Design Thinking.
In addition to his teaching, Professor Bilodeau oversees USM’s Center for Entrepreneurship, and serves on the advisor groups for the Honors Program, Food Studies Program, MEIF Entrepreneurship Training Program and Ci2 Lab.
Professor Bilodeau’s current research focuses on the role our neurobiology plays in our creative and business decision-making and design thinking process. In addition, he is working on two MEIF-funded grant projects looking at strengthening relationships in the North Atlantic and bring best-practice innovations back home to Maine.
Prior to his career in business and education, he worked in a clinical laboratory where he conducted research and testing involving tumor markers.
In his free time, Professor Bilodeau enjoys yoga, meditation, traveling, drawing, and exploring the vibrant restaurant scene in Portland, Maine (where he resides) and Montreal, Quebec (where he visits often).
