Dr. Joyce Taylor Gibson is currently Associate Professor of Leadership and Organizational Studies at the University of Southern Maine (USM) and recently served as Dean of USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College for nine years. Prior to serving in Maine she was Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Education at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, and served as Associate Vice Chancellor responsible for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs. Joyce crossed over to Academic Affairs after serving close to a decade in Student Affairs, and has spent close to 30 years in higher education administration. Joyce earned her PhD in Educational Administration from the University of Florida, an MA in Rehabilitation Counseling from George Washington University, and her BS in Psychology from Howard University. She is an experienced leader in administration whose research and expertise focus on community-university partnerships, cultural diversity and organizational change, with social justice as her lens.
