Keele University, England
Spring 2019

Before I arrived in the UK at Keele University, I had no idea what to expect because my life was about to be completely different for the next four months. I decided to attend a study abroad program at a university that none of my fellow classmates took part in. This was my first journey completely by myself. When I reached England, I had a mixture of feelings; one being nervousness for not knowing what was going to happen next, but also excitement because I couldn't wait for a new adventure! After a week of being at Keele University, I had already met numerous people who eventually became my best friends, peers, professors, mentors, flatmates, and travel buddies. Each day these feelings went away and I became more and more comfortable with my stay at Keele University especially when I started classes. This is when I began to meet my professors who were helpful and dedicated in the process of continuing my studies in a whole new learning environment. Now that I look back, I feel like I have gained a whole new level of maturity. My experience at Keele University has made me stronger as a person in multiple ways including this secure feeling of maturity and knowing that I can do anything on my own, along with learning how to control my finances while travelling around Europe. The Dara Kaufman scholarship has helped me not only by assisting me financially in this study abroad experience but also by giving me this incredible opportunity to go overseas to another country for the first time. I am beyond thankful for all of the people I have met, the places I have been able to see, and how all of these aspects have impacted my life in such a positive way.
