Paul Dexter LCSW, Ph.D.
Paul Dexter is originally from Beverly, Massachusetts. He began working for the University of Southern Maine in 1998. He attended Saint Michael’s College, receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and earned his Master of Social Work degree from Salem State College. Paul completed his Ph.D. in Public Policy from the Muskie School of Public Service at USM, with his dissertation research on the relationship between student engagement and success among online undergraduates. In addition to his administrative position, Paul is a lecturer in both the Leadership & Organizational Studies program and the Adult & Higher Education program. He has also taught exploratory courses at USM such as Choices, Changes & Careers, Academic Self Management, and College & Career Success. Paul is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Maine, and is certified as a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Practitioner. He completed a certificate in online teaching from the Online Learning Consortium, and is a certified Global Career Development Facilitator.
