Meet Lewiston

Integrating classroom, community and workplace.

The Lewiston campus is home to USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College (LAC). LAC offers innovative undergraduate and graduate programs that integrate the liberal arts with workplace and community. This modern, environmentally friendly campus complex in the heart of Central Maine fosters a supportive, close-knit college atmosphere with access to all of USM’s extensive resources. Students enrolled in LAC programs commute and typically attend classes only on the Lewiston campus. The Lewiston campus is known for:

Commitment to central Maine’s artists and heritage

  • The Lewiston campus houses the Atrium Art Gallery, with year-round exhibitions highlighting local and international artists in all media and the Franco-American Collection, one of the largest collections in the U.S. documenting Franco-American heritage.

Well-recognized Academics

  • LAC provides an interdisciplinary education and offers undergraduate and graduate degrees and certificates, many of which include exciting opportunities for fieldwork, internships, study abroad and service learning. Leadership Studies, Occupational Therapy and Social and Behavioral Sciences are just a few well-regarded areas of study. Our USM faculty members are recognized scholars, researchers and practicing professionals who have earned the highest academic credentials in their fields.

A Focus on Student Success and Learning Commons

  • Student Success is a priority at the University of Southern Maine. There are many resources that can assist students as they begin their college experience, which remain available through graduation and beyond.
  • USM's libraries offer newly established Learning Commons spaces designed to support active collaborative learning. Students can work with Reference Librarians, tutors, faculty and each other in this dynamic environment.

USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College provides a small college experience with the resources of a large university. The Lewiston campus is conveniently located for students who live and work in the Central Maine area.
