Mark Silber is a documentary photographer and a cultural anthropologist. He is also an avid gardener, who, for 35 years, owned the well-known Hedgehog Hill Farm in Sumner, Maine. With an AB from Harvard and a PhD from Boston University in Medical Anthropology, his career has been highly unorthodox. Photographing for over fifty-five years, he is an author or co-author of eight books published in Boston, New York, and Maine. His work has been exhibited widely and his photography has been published in national and international magazines. Mark Silber teaches at University of Southern Maine, Lewiston-Auburn College, where, during the fall of 2012, one of his courses is Reading Nature: Landscapes and Literature.
