Christy lives in Scarborough, and has a daughter and yellow lab whom she dotes on. She tries to return home to Wyoming at least 3 or 4 times a year.


Areas of Expertise

While studying for her Ph.D., Christy specialized in the Sociology of Science and the Sociology of Race and Ethnic Relations. She is mainly interested in the politics, economics, and socio-cultural aspects of K-16 education.

Research Interests

At Lewiston-Auburn College, she teaches Sociology, Ethics, Education, and Leadership courses, and appreciates the ability to work out her own eclectic, inter-disciplinary interests.

Awards and Recognition

Christy worked in Civil Rights in the field of K-12 education for many years, and has won two awards for her Anti-Racism work in schools. She says that her "fifteen minutes of fame" was when she was featured on the national McNeil-Lehrer News Hour as a gender equity expert on the topic of single-sex schooling.
