Academic Search Complete is a large scholarly, multi-disciplinary, full-text database, with more than 9,000 full-text periodicals, including more than 7,800 peer-reviewed journals. The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service is a multi-faceted Agency with a broad mission area that includes protecting and promoting U.S. agricultural health, regulating genetically engineered organisms, administering the Animal Welfare Act and carrying out wildlife damage management activities. A searchable database of U.S. Department of Agriculture funded research. Covers on-going and recently completed research projects in agriculture, food and nutrition, and forestry. Search by keyword, investigator, agency, institution, state, and project status and type as well as by classification codes. Database records include listings of publications resulting from the funded research.
The Digital Commons Network brings together free, full-text scholarly articles from hundreds of universities and colleges worldwide. Curated by university librarians and their supporting institutions, the Network includes a growing collection of peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, dissertations, working papers, conference proceedings, and other original scholarly work. Articles in Digital Commons repositories are highly discoverable in Google, Google Scholar, and other search engines.
With more than 2.4 million entries, the ProQuest Dissertations & Theses (PQDT) database is the most comprehensive collection of dissertations and theses in the world. ProQuest's UMI Dissertation Publishing group publishes more than 65,000 new dissertations and theses each year, with weekly updates to the PQDT database. Over 930,000 dissertations and theses are available in PDF format, and most include free twenty-four page previews.
The ebrary Academic Complete ebooks collection includes over 50,000 titles spanning all academic subject areas. The ebooks are from more than 400 major academic, professional, and STM (scientific, technical, medical) publishers. Ebooks may be accessed online through any web enabled device, and pages or sections may be printed. Ebooks may not be downloaded as a separate file due to licensing restrictions. Users may create an account to store books on a personal bookshelf, and use the ebrary Reader to highlight text and take notes. Note: All titles in Academic Complete are available to all University of Maine System users. Individual UMS libraries have also purchased some ebrary ebooks that are restricted to a single user at a time, due to digital rights management licensing.
The EBSCO Ebook Collection includes 7,885 e-books (4,480 titles purchased from Netlibrary and 3,405 Project Gutenberg titles). The collection is accessible to all Maine citizens. Some URSUS libraries have also purchased additional titles that may be available within the EBSCO Ebook Collection. Records for these titles have been added to URSUS

ScienceDirect is a full-text collection of journals on science, technology, and medicine published by Elsevier. The University of Maine System Libraries have access to Complete and the Freedom Collection, which together comprise more than 1,800 journals, most with backfiles from 1995 to present. Wiley Online Library publishes more than 1,700 peer-reviewed journals from Wiley and Blackwell in the life and physical sciences, medicine and allied health, engineering, humanities and social sciences. Many of the titles are published for academic and professional societies. University of Southern Maine has access to most, but not all, journal titles from Wiley.
