Big Queer Historical Bar Tour: Fifty-Three Years of LGBTQ+ Bars in Portland, Maine

Join the LGBTQ+ Collection of the Jean Byers Sampson Center for a historical walking tour of Portland's LGBTQ+ bars. The tour will take you to seven locations that were the site of seventeen LGBTQ+ bars, past and present, in Portland. We’ll be talking about the history, and importance of these spaces in the LGBTQ+ community and how they changed over time in Portland.

Tour guide Megan MacGregor is the Instruction & Outreach Librarian at USM and a member of the LGBTQ+ Collection Advisory Committee.

2 mile walking tour meets outside of Equality Community Center, 15 Casco Street, Portland, Maine.
