Welcome to the USM Image Bank.
When choosing a photo it’s important to know which medium you will be using. Please review the following information to help you choose the correct gallery to browse.
- For assistance downloading your images, please review our Image Bank Flickr Help Document.
- You do not need a Flickr account to access or download images from the Image Bank.
- Always download the original size of the image you wish to use.
- Always make sure that you are downloading photos from “USM Image Bank’s Photostream” (either PRINT or WEB). Downloading and using an image from Flickr that we do not have rights to use could lead to legal issues for the University.
For Print Use
If you are looking for a high-resolution photo to use on a printed piece (poster, banner, clothing, flyer, notecard, etc.), please choose a photo from the Print Ready Image Bank to download a 300dpi, file. Please choose from the Print Ready Image Bank if you are using one of our Franklin Printing Templates.
IMPORTANT: The color mode on this selection of images is set to CMYK and may not display properly in your browser. Do not use photos with CMYK color for a web or video project. Advanced users may choose to convert Print Ready images to RGB color mode for web or video use.
For Web Use
If you are looking for a low-res or web-ready photo to use in a digital piece (power point, PDF, email, webpage, slider, promo box, etc.), please choose the appropriate logo from the Web Ready Image Bank to download a 72ppi, RGB file. These images are not suitable for video projects.
IMPORTANT: Advanced users can choose from the Print Ready Image Bank for more photo cropping options, as the image will be much larger. Remember to convert the Print Ready photo colors to RGB mode for web or video use.
For Video Use
If you are looking for images to include in a video, please contact Tina Burnell to discuss your project.
NOTE: Image Bank images are solely for the use of USM faculty and staff in developing web pages and print materials that promote USM to our internal and external communities such as students, business partners, prospective students, and the communities that surround us. Images have been categorized to make browsing easier and some may appear in more than one category. The Image Bank will continue to be updated so check back periodically.
