Admission is free.

The concert is sponsored by Gorham Savings Bank.

The program will include a wide variety of works including selections from such operas as Turandot by Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924), Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss II performed by Kimberly Ouellette, soprano, and La Traviata by Guiseppe Verdi (1813-1901), and La Clemenza di Tito by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) performed by Aaren Rivard, tenor.

Also included will be works for stringed instruments including the Prelude from Suite No. 5 in C minor, BWV 1011 of Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) performed by Shannon Allen, cello, and the Chaconne from Bach's Partita No. 2 in D Minor, BWV 1004 performed by Roy MacNeil, violin.

Musical Theatre lovers will enjoy Danie Lane's rendition of Back to Before from the musical Ragtime by Stephen Flaherty (b. 1960) and I'm a Star by Scott Allen (b. 1978).

No variety concert in the USM School of Music would be complete without some fantastic jazz, and for that Jacob Forbes will be the featured percussionist on Rhythm-a-Ning by Thelonious Sphere Monk (1917-1982), assisted by his brother Gideon Forbes on tenor saxophone, and Gideon will be the featured tenor sax player on Isfahan by Billy Strayhorn (1915-1967), assisted by his brother Jacob on drum set, Michael Beling on piano, and Kinnon Church on bass.

The 36th Annual Honors Recital is a time-tested treasure, highlighting the exceptional talent achieved by USM music majors. With assigned seating, admission is free, but reservations are recommended.
