Brent LaCasce holds a MM in Jazz Studies from the University of Southern Maine, and a bachelors' from Granite State College. Past studies include Bowdoin College, UNH, the US Army School of Music, and Heidelberg University (Germany). He is currently in his 23rd year at Fryeburg Academy, where he serves as director of music and chair of the arts department. Recent FA ensembles have won multiple state, regional, and national awards in both instrumental and choral competitions. His former students have gone on to successful careers in virtually every genre of music, literally all over the world. LaCasce also serves as artist faculty of jazz voice at the University of Southern Maine, a position he has held for two years.
LaCasce also just completed his 27th summer at Camp Encore-Coda, a private music camp in Sweden Maine, where he teaches advanced instrumental and vocal jazz ensembles and chairs the jazz/rock department. As a performer, LaCasce has enjoyed a 35-year career as vocalist, pianist and trumpetist, including a stint in the US Army Band and performances with Robert Kraft, Larry Goldings, Kevin Norton, NRBQ, and the Portland Jazz Orchestra. His writing and arranging credits include work for “the Polar Express”, The Jimmy Fund, numerous theme parks, and many radio and television ads. LaCasce has also appeared as clinician and conductor for Broward and Dade county schools (FL),New Hampshire Jazz All State, and many New England schools and festivals.
