The School of Music at the University of Southern Maine is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jacqueline Townsend as assistant professor of music and director of bands. Dr. Townsend comes to us from University of North Texas where she recently finished her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Wind Conducting. While in Texas, Dr. Townsend studied with legendary wind conductor Eugene Migliaro Corporon and was the assistant conductor of professional wind ensemble, The Lone Star Wind Orchestra.
Before UNT, Dr. Townsend was director of bands at Keystone High School in LaGrange, Ohio, where she directed the high school concert band, marching band, and jazz band, as well as the 8th grade concert band.
School of Music Director Alan Kaschub says, “We are looking forward to making music with our new colleague and to the wonderful energy and experience she will bring to the whole region.”
