Jenna Guiggey, mezzo-soprano, has been praised for her “power, suppleness, and expressive depth” (Portland Press Herald). She performs a diverse array of repertoire, including Early Baroque, Golden Age and Modern musical theatre, pop, rock, and contemporary choral music. She performs locally with the St. Mary Schola (an early music ensemble) in Falmouth, and has also performed with Opera on Tap Maine, the Portland Rossini Club, and Oratorio Chorale. Favorite operatic and musical theatre roles include Zita in Gianni Schicci, Monitor and Abbess in Suor Angelica, Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, Dejanira in Hercules, and Mrs. Phagan in Parade.
Jenna studied classical voice with Ellen Chickering and Bruce Fithian at the University of Southern Maine, earning degrees in music education and vocal performance with a concentration in vocal pedagogy. Additional training includes the New England Opera Intensive in Boston, the Young Artist program with Opera Susquehanna in Pennsylvania, and the Queens College Baroque Opera workshop, where she studied with Julianne Baird.
As an educator, Jenna works with many students in Southern and Central Maine. She teaches private voice lessons at her studios in Falmouth and Auburn, and at the University of Southern Maine where she serves as Artist Faculty in Voice at the School of Music. In addition to private teaching, Jenna is the Music Supervisor for Cast Aside Productions, a professional theatre company in Portland.
