For incoming 8th graders through outgoing 12th graders
This exciting yet demanding, six-day residential program gives grades 7-12 choral musicians the opportunity for musical development through intensive group and individualized instruction provided by qualified staff and professional musicians. All academy members will participate in concert choir, voice class, sectionals, and small ensembles daily. Students may also audition for the chamber choir. Academy members will enjoy free concerts performed by professional musicians and non-musical recreational activities.
Camp check-in will be held on Sunday, from 12:30 - 2 p.m. During check-in, students will have the opportunity to unpack and set up their rooms. Arrive early for sufficient time to get oriented. The program begins at 2:15 p.m. with a meeting of all participants and faculty in Corthell Concert Hall. Beginning Monday, the commuter program begins at 8:15 a.m. daily, and commuters participate in all camp activities until approximately 9:30 p.m.
The Academy will end with a special concert on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Corthell Concert Hall. Friends and family are encouraged to attend; admission is free.

Cost for 2019
The Academy offers two package options for participants.
Resident: $600 - The resident package includes daily music instruction, activities, housing and all meals each day (breakfast, lunch and dinner).
Commuter: $500 - The commuter program provides participants with daily music instruction, activities, dinner on Sunday, and lunch and dinner for the remainder of the week. Commuters participate in all evening activities until approx. 9:30 p.m. The commuter option includes lunch and dinner, but not breakfast.
For either option, a $100 non-refundable deposit is required to process registration.

The University of Southern Maine hires approximately 1 staff member for every 8 participants each year. Staff members are a mix of certified music teachers from around the state of Maine, School of Music faculty, USM music education alumni, and upper level undergraduate music education majors with supervision.
