Southern Maine Choral Music and Opera Workshop Academy

This exciting yet demanding, six-day residential program gives choral musicians from grades 8-12 the opportunity for musical development through intensive group and individualized instruction provided by qualified staff and professional musicians. The Opera Workshop Academy is designed for singers seeing an intensive learning and performing experience in both opera and choral singing. All Academy members will participate in concert choir, voice class, sectionals, and small ensembles daily.

Please read the information below about each one of the Academies and address your questions to the proper artistic director.

CHORAL Music Academy

The choral academy will allow students to study music from various cultures, genres, and time periods. A brief placement test will take place prior to the first rehearsal. Upon arrival students will be asked to brief vocal exercises (to check for range), sing “Happy Birthday”, complete brief pitch matching exercises, and sight-sing placement test. Choral academy students may participate in the opera workshop as one of the chorus members. Students who desire a principal role must audition for the opera workshop prior to arriving to the camp.
