Join the Muskie School and Cutler Institute for our Lunch & Learn series for spring 2022. On Wednesday, February 23 from Noon to 1 p.m. via Zoom, we are delighted to host Dr. Clemon George, Assistance Professor of Health Sciences for a presentation and conversation about his research:
Rapid assessment of COVID-19 knowledge, attitude and behavior to guide public response to the pandemic in Guyana and Barbados.
Dr. George is a social epidemiologist whose main research focus is on improving the sexual health outcomes for youth, minorities, and other populations. He holds a Ph.D. in Epidemiology from Laval University, 2005 (L’Université Laval, Département de médecine sociale et préventive). He is an advocate for research that utilizes community-based participatory research principles whereby communities are centered in the research direction and process. He has been involved in HIV research and advocacy for over 15 years. Prior to coming to the University of Southern Maine, he taught epidemiology, health promotion and research methods at the University of the West Indies School of Medicine, in Barbados and prior to that, undergraduate and graduate courses in Health Sciences at Ontario Tech University, Canada. Dr. George has mentored graduate, undergraduate, and medical science students. He believes in weaving his research with his teaching and community work, engaging students to think broadly, and to have the vision to improve the health and wellbeing of society through research and community service.
