Join the Muskie School and Cutler Institute for a lunchtime presentation on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 from Noon to 1 pm EST on The utilization of Geographic Information Systems to solve real world problems by Mr. Nasir Shir and Mr. Justin Mugnai from Sewall. The talk will include a demo of various GIS applications.
Mr. Shir joined Sewall as Director of Geospatial Services in 2020 with over two decades of GIS experience. He enjoys working on many complex and unique GIS projects, whether for the State of Maine, higher education, local municipalities, the United Nations, USAID, or international firms in Afghanistan or Abu Dhabi. Nasir’s career in geospatial thinking began at Clark University where he majored in geography and international development. After obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree, he earned his Master’s degree in community planning and development from the Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine.
Mr. Mugnai has been solving complex geospatial problems for Sewall since the turn of the century. In his current role as Senior GIS Analyst, he supervises geospatial division staff while also working closely with clients to develop custom solutions. These solutions utilize his knowledge regarding needs assessment, geodatabase schema design, data development, data analysis, custom scripting, and application design.
