The mission of University Health and Counseling Services (UHCS) is to support and enhance the health and psychological well-being of the USM community through clinical services, student training and outreach.
We are committed to keeping students healthy and safe.  This contributes to success in their academic careers and satisfaction with their lives. 

Counseling Services provides comprehensive psychological services which include mental health evaluations, counseling, crisis intervention, consultation, outreach, workshops, and training/service learning.

Health Services promotes, maintains and improves the health and well being of USM students by providing care which includes acute illness, annual exams, complete physicals, sports physicals for all USM athletes, immunizations, LGBTQ health care, birth control, lab testing and service learning.

Everybody Struggles

Student Immunization Requirements

The State of Maine requires students to show proof of the following immunizations to be eligible to register for classes….

  • One does of Tetanus/Diphtheria (Td) OR Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis (Tdap) within the last 10 years. 
  • Two doses of Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) given after your first birthday. 

The university needs a signed or stamped record of these immunizations.  They can be mailed, emailed or faxed to Health and Counseling Services in Gorham Maine. 
Failure to meet this requirement will result with a hold on your student account until you provide the requested records.
