Orientation is your opportunity to learn more about USM. During your in-person Orientation session you can expect to:

  • Explore our campuses and USM Resources.
  • Connect to community, classmates, and new friends.
  • Prepare for success in and outside the classroom.
  • Learn about yourself and others.

Please Note: Enrolling in courses occurs during your one-on-one Advising & Course Selection (ACS) appointment, which is completed separately from the Orientation events listed below. Optional Info Sessions & Quarantine Week 2020

Commuter & Online students are invited to attend zoom based info sessions and Quarantine Week 2020 Student Engagement activities offered the week of 8/25. Info sessions include Student Employment, Student Financial Services, Disability Services, and more!

Orientation is mandatory for *all* new USM students living in the dorms and will be integrated into your Move-In process. Residential students will be provided with required Orientation sessions during their quarantine period. Specific details will be provided in their room at the time of arrival.

Virtual Veteran's Orientation Session 

Learn how to use your GI Bill at USM, meet other USM students and Staff, and get the answers to any questions that you may have.

Please note: Veteran students will also be expected to attend a general University Orientation session. Please review the sections above titled "Commuter Students (including students in online programs)" and "Residential Students" as appropriate based on your housing plan for fall 2020 for details.

Summer Bridge Programs

All Conditionally Admitted Students are required to attend the Jump Start Meeting on Thursday, Aug. 27 from 6-7pm. An email invitation will be sent in August with links to the zoom session. For more info: usm.maine.edu/orientation/jumpstart
