Although we cannot welcome K-12 groups and class visits into the Osher Map Library this year due to COVID-19 precautions and restrictions, the K-12 Education Outreach team has been hard at work this summer adapting our most popular lessons and visit themes to be done online.
We explored several options and found a great platform to run educational games and activities with students in a virtual space. To date, we’ve created three full virtual field trips, including one that is Maine themed, one about World Geography and Landforms, and another World Maps lesson that focuses on different perspectives on the world and how maps of the world have been used throughout history. All of them are very interactive and can be done with the students on their laptops or chromebooks either at home or in the classroom. We have a few more virtual field trip themes in the works that we hope to have finished by the time school starts, so stay tuned!
