 International Baccalaureate is a standardized test.

IB is available in a worldwide community of schools. IB culminates in standardized tests. The program markets itself as "quality education for a better world”. Each year more schools are engaging in this unique educational opportunity.

 IB Equivalencies and Passing Scores

The University of Southern Maine recognizes IB and is committed to supporting students who have achieved excellence in the IB program. USM does not grant credit for Standard Level IB Examinations. Faculty have evaluated exams and have determined the following to be appropriate for academic credit:

Students must receive a score of 5 or better on a Higher Level IB exam.

Receiving Credit for your IB exams at USM

PLA at USM must have an official transcript in order to evaluate your scores for college credit. Please have your transcript sent to:

Posting Your IB Credits at USM

Once we have your official score report, your credits will be evaluated and posted to your USM academic transcript. You will be notified when we have evaluated and posted your credits.
