The International Baccalaureate® (IB) is a global academic process, available in a worldwide community of schools, which culminates in tests, originating on the secondary level (high school). IB markets itself as "quality education for a better world," with a mission to:
- Develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people to help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
- Work with schools, governments, and international organizations to develop challenging programs of international education and rigorous assessment.
- Encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right. (http://www.ibo.org/general/who.cfm)
