USM to host public listening session on U.S. Supreme Court nomination with Sen. Angus King
U.S. Sen. Angus King will hold a public listening session on Sunday, March 5, at USM to learn what Mainers wish to know about U.S. Supreme Court nominee Judge Neil Gorsuch. The session is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hannaford Hall on USM's Portland Campus. It is being co-sponsored by the University of Southern Maine and the University of Maine School of Law.
University of Maine System trustees encourage USM to move forward on Portland Campus planning
Modernizations to the University of Southern Maine’s Portland Campus — including a new dormitory, a quad and a bigger, brighter student center — are headed to detailed planning. On Jan. 30, the University of Maine System Board of Trustees formally encouraged USM to complete a master plan for the layout of its metropolitan campus with a new central heart.
Award-winning journalist David Brancaccio to deliver 2017 Commencement Address at USM
The University of Southern Maine is pleased to announce that award-winning journalist David Brancaccio will deliver the keynote address at the 2017 Commencement Ceremony. Honorary degrees will be conferred upon both Brancaccio and Mary L. Bonauto, who successfully argued before the U.S. Supreme Court in the historic case Obergefell v. Hodges, establishing the freedom to marry for same-sex couples nationwide.
