Anne Malin, a 2017 University of Southern Maine alumna, has been named the Director of Program Development at the Global Research Institute, located in the former Soviet republic of Kyrgzstan.
Malin is helping the institute and partners develop a caregiver support program for those caring for an elderly family member with dementia.
"I am applying skills I learned at USM School of Social Work in my current position and also have drawn on my experience from my concentration year internship placement at a long term care and skilled rehabilitation facility," Malin said.
A Fulbright Scholar in Kosovo from 2003 to 2004, Malin earned her doctorate in Social Policy from Brandeis University before enrolling in USM’s Master of Social Work program.
The Global Research Institute explores solutions to a whole range of health and social issues such as gender-based violence, HIV/AIDS, STIs, TB, Hepatitis C, drug use, malnutrition, mental health and others, according to its web site.
