Bone marrow drive organized by USM women’s soccer team

USM sophomore Ally Little

USM’s women’s soccer team organized a bone marrow drive Wednesday, February 8, to help out fellow teammate Ally Little.

Little was diagnosed with the rare disease severe aplastic anemia in late December. Shortly after the diagnosis, the team worked with Be The Match to organize a bone marrow drive in hopes of finding a match for Ally. The drives were held on both USM's Portland and Gorham campuses. The team remains hopeful and supportive in other ways too, as they were scene at a USM basketball game wearing shirts that read "All for Ally".

“Just a cheek swab and some paperwork could help save her life.” USM sophomore Jessica Preble said to the Portland Press Herald. Ally is currently receiving weekly blood transfusions as she awaits her perfect bone marrow match.
