Bryan Waring will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in music composition. During his time at the University of Southern Maine, he had the chance to spend summers working with professional movie scorers in San Diego, California and Glasgow, Scotland. However, his work in the unique, 2017 USM production of “Molded By the Flow,” that most stands out. The project was a collaboration between the music school and the art and theatre departments. “We had three requirements: It had to be about water. It had to be about Maine, and it had to make our own instruments and play them. It took us an entire year to figure it out but we made this incredible show and we had a run for a good month.” Waring wishes to thank Daniel Sonenberg, an associate professor and resident composer at USM. “He put a lot of pressure on me, but he was the absolutely great mentor, teacher and friend that got me where I am today with my skills.” Waring plans to pursue a master’s degree in Commercial Media Composition & Arranging at Belmont University in Nashville.
