Jeffrey DiBartolomeo, assistant professor of finance in the University of Southern Maine (USM) School of Business, has been featured in an article discussing the habits of Maine credit card users.
Mainers are more responsible credit card owners, according to a study by Experian highlighted by WGME CBS 13.
Indebted households overall owe more than $9,000 on their cards, according to the Bureau of Consumer Credit Protection — in Maine, that number is only $5,800, which DiBartolomeo said is likely due to age and location.
"I attribute it to age demographics. Basically, as people get older, they become more risk-averse. They generally spend less and accumulate less debt," DiBartolomeo said.
