Gateway to Opportunity provides area youth with workforce skills

G2O presentation

During July and August, high school students from Portland, South Portland and Westbrook participated in Gateway to Opportunity. The six-week, work-based learning program helps connect local youth with tangible work experiences during the summer as they learn 21st Century skills to take with them through college and beyond.

This year, the program extended into Westbrook and South Portland. As part of the program, Westbrook High School students Jaylen White and Matthew Eugley were tasked with creating a project that would advocate for the Westbrook Community Center. They did this by creating a virtual tour of the facility.

Watch a video about the program below, and check out the latest episode of "The USM Update," featuring other Gateway to Opportunity participants.
