A 2006 University of Southern Maine graduate — now the general manager of a Marriott hotel in Big Sky, Montana — was profiled by her local newspaper.
Mandy Hotovy talked about working with customers and employees at Big Sky’s The Wilson Hotel, and her work in Portland while pursuing a USM degree in business management and a minor in accounting and her desire to work in hotels.
“I remember when I was young that my favorite part of a trip was staying in the hotels and pretending to work at the desk,” Hotovy told Explore Big Sky. “Sounds silly, however that memory stuck with me and I ended up applying to work at the Portland Harbor Hotel when I was in college. My first position was working at the front desk and I’ve always loved interacting with guests and hearing about their experience. I’d have to say that I was hooked on the industry following that first job.”
