New USM faculty member delivers keynote to Dallas event

Dorothea Ivey, an associate professor of Social Work, gave the keynote address on Sept. 29th at a charity event benefitting homeless families in Dallas, Texas.

The event, an annual luncheon held by Dallas’s Under 1 Roof, was titled “Stepping out of Homelessness.”

Ivey, a new University of Southern Maine faculty member, grew up in Texas and his earned her Ph.D in Spring 2018 from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Ivey has served as served at the president and CEO of Grand Education & Consulting Group, which helps nonprofit groups in planning, evaluation and fundraising. Under her leadership, the organization has raised over $1,000,000 in funds for nonprofit groups.

The luncheon's organizer, Under 1 Roof, serves families in the Dallas area who are homeless, victims of domestic violence, veterans or living below the poverty line.
